Keeping It Simple
Because this started as a hobby- a creative outlet- I have consistently chosen to make only the things that interest me. Projects or designs I’m drawn to. Fabrics that inspire me or that I’m just so happy to look at and enjoy during the creative making process.
I’m not a very traditional person, in my life or in my art, so I love the idea of shifting quilting away from something that grandmothers are known for, to something more graphic or bold or bright. My style of quilting definitely skews more modern, but I love to take a traditional block or pattern and modernize it with unexpected colors and simple prints. I love to mix solids with one or two high-volume prints for impact, and I’m especially fond of graphic, geometric patterned quilts, even challenging myself to draw and create my own designs.
All that is to say, that while my shop is named after my beloved grandmother, whose quilt started me down this path, these are not your grandmother’s quilts.
Each of my quilts are designed and made by me in my favorite place— the sewing room of my home here in beautiful Vermont— unless otherwise noted, and as such, are subject to slight imperfections and/or variations, which I believe adds to their character and individuality.
A handmade quilt is a gift to be loved and snuggled in regularly. The more you use and wash it, the softer it will be. Each quilt is packaged with a care card to help you keep your quilt looking good for years to come.
